Expanding Participation and Engagement for Local Nonprofits

The Nonprofit Council, a vital resource for nonprofits in South Central Texas, has been connecting and empowering organizations for over two decades. Their Big Give event is a 24-hour online giving day supporting over 400 local nonprofits in San Antonio. With a history of raising over $45 million in the first decade, the Council sought to raise even more in 2024 and increase donor engagement.

Idea

Targeted Campaign to Maximize Donations and Awareness

Our team developed a campaign strategy to boost awareness and drive donations. We conducted audience analysis to target past donors, corporate sponsors, and local supporters, leveraging insights from previous Big Give events. Our strategy blended traditional media (broadcast, print, and outdoor ads) with digital channels (social media, email, and video ads), incorporating platforms like Meta and YouTube for maximum reach. We also implemented a phased approach with three key stages: raising awareness, driving early donations, and maximizing donations during the 24-hour event. PR efforts amplified the campaign with media coverage across local news outlets.

Results

Record-Breaking Contributions and Engagement

  • Total Raised: $5.8 million, an increase from $5.5 million in 2023
  • Online Donations: $3.3 million, up from $3.2 million in 2023
  • New Donors: 474 new donors
  • Total Donors: 22,954, up from 22,480 in 2023
  • Impressions: 168 million across digital and social media platforms
  • Early Donations: Contributed an additional $300,000 compared to the previous year
